The loudest quote in the room
Research doesn’t become strategy by moving into a nicer deck — it becomes strategy when gathering, judging and making stay separate.

Research does not become strategy because it moved into a nicer deck.
I borrowed the CODE framework (Capture. Organize. Distill. Express) from Tiago Forte’s Second Brain methodology and adapted it for brand strategy
1. Capture the raw material without deciding too quickly what it means.
2. Organize it into themes, patterns, contradictions, and useful context.
3. Distill what matters into a clear problem and a point of view to build the strategy.
4. Express that judgement through a narrative story, visual concepts, and creative principles to develop the creative direction.
Each step has a different job.
If you capture and distil at the same time, the loudest quote in the room can become the strategy.
And, if you express too early, the aesthetic can arrive before the thinking is ready.
For me, good synthesis creates enough space between gathering, judging, and making, that the final direction is not simply the first idea that looked good.
The value of CODE is the discipline of knowing what stage of thinking you are in, and what the work needs next.
Give it a shot.
I write most of this on LinkedIn first.
