Niceness protects the moment

Being nice and being kind aren’t the same thing, and only one of them will tell a client this isn’t the real problem.

Being nice to your clients is not the same thing as being kind.

Niceness is easy to confuse with good service.

It keeps things pleasant.
It keeps things agreeable.
It avoids discomfort.

But kindness is what actually serves the work.

Kindness is telling the truth with care.
It is naming the issue clearly.
It is being willing to say what someone may not want to hear if that truth can help move the business forward.

I think that is part of the responsibility of the expert.

Because sometimes the most useful thing you can say is:
this is not the real problem.
this is not ready yet.
this decision may feel safe, but it will not get you where you want to go.

Niceness protects the moment.
Kindness protects the outcome.

Be kind.
